Lakewood Memorial Gardens is a beautiful country cemetery, located in Indiana Township on Route 910 in Dorseyville, Pa. This 130-acre farm was known as the Deer Valley Farm before it became a cemetery. In 1794, a log cabin was constructed on the farm, which still stands today. For a while it was used as the administrative office for Lakewood Memorial Gardens, but the office has since moved to a recently remodeled home located just behind the cabin. The cemetery was established in 1949 and was owned by Mr. Kenneth Dietrich, the founder of Dietrich Industries, who is now laid to rest in the cemetery in a private garden estate.
As you enter Lakewood Memorial Gardens, a mausoleum stands to the right of the entrance, along with a lawn crypt development, the Garden of Love. There are 10 gardens altogether, and six of the gardens have features. The Garden of Devotion, a lawn crypt installed in 1995, features a couple holding hands; the Garden of the Gospels features the four apostles; the Garden of the Savior features a statue of the Savior; the Garden of Nativity depicts a scene from the story of the birth of Christ; and the Garden of Peace features a couple in an embrace. The Garden of the Veterans finished construction in 1969, and features a commemoration to the veterans in the form of a star and six flags, five of which are service flags, and one American flag. In June 1996, a cannon used in “Operation Desert Storm” was installed. The local Disabled American Veterans conducts their services for veterans at the star every Memorial Day.
We are also proud to announce the newest addition to Lakewood Memorial Gardens: the Garden of Faithful Companions, the pet cemetery. Only one garden is completed at this time, but, when fully finished, will include three other gardens. We also offer a seasonal floral program to families that wish to participate, where three silk arrangements during the year, and one wreath during the winter season, will be placed on the gravesites by our staff. Lakewood Memorial Gardens aspires to provide our families with the respect, compassion, and service that they deserve, and, as always, “To help families memorialize every life with dignity.”
Lakewood Memorial Gardens is located beside the Allegheny River, which provides it with a majestic landscape. If you are looking for an Allegheny County cemetery, Cheswick cemetery, Pittsburghh cemetery, or Ingram cemetery then Lakewood Memorial Gardens is a beautiful choice.
